Who We Are & Where We're Going
Here's a quick look at who we are, what we do, how we do it, and what we strive to bring to Marion County, its residents, and its visitors.
Mission
The Marion County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Marion County—from its earliest days to the present. Rather than a single destination, we bring history to life through exhibits, events, and programs hosted throughout the community. Our mission is to connect residents and visitors alike with the people, places, and stories that have shaped our county, while fostering pride, understanding, and appreciation for our shared heritage.

Vision
The Marion County Historical Society is committed to being the leading voice for our county’s past—preserving it, interpreting it, and sharing it with the public. While our work is no longer centered in a single building, we bring history to life through exhibits and programming placed throughout the community. With a growing collection of artifacts and stories, we aim to engage local residents and visitors alike through dynamic, accessible, and relevant experiences that celebrate the people and events that shaped Marion County.
